# Tags (/docs/tags)

Tags are reusable, color-coded labels for organizing QR codes inside an organization. They do not change scan destinations or QR artwork.

## Create and Manage Tags [#create-and-manage-tags]

1. Open **Tags** from the sidebar.
2. Select **Create tag**.
3. Enter a name and choose a color.
4. Save the tag.

Tag names can contain up to 64 characters. Organization owners and admins can rename, recolor, and delete tags.

Deleting a tag removes its assignments. It does not delete the QR codes or change their destinations.

## Assign Tags to a QR Code [#assign-tags-to-a-qr-code]

Open a QR code and use the tag field on its **General** tab. A QR code can have up to 50 tags.

Tag assignment is saved immediately when you change the selection. It is separate from the main QR form's **Save changes** action.

Owners and admins can update tags on QR codes throughout the organization. A member can update tags on a QR code they created, but broader QR updates require an owner or admin.

## Filter with Tags [#filter-with-tags]

Use tags to narrow:

* the QR Codes list
* Analytics
* Events

When you select multiple tags in analytics, GeoQR returns QR codes that have all selected tags.

## Good Tagging Practices [#good-tagging-practices]

* Use stable categories such as region, channel, store, team, or lifecycle.
* Keep campaign names in Campaigns rather than duplicating every campaign as a tag.
* Use a consistent color meaning across the organization.
* Delete tags only after checking whether teammates still use them as filters.
