# Test and Share (/docs/qr-codes/publish-and-share)

Every QR code is active as soon as it is created and counts against the organization's QR code limit.

## Before Sharing [#before-sharing]

Confirm:

* the internal name identifies the QR code clearly
* the serving domain is correct
* the default HTTPS destination works
* device and country destinations behave in the order you expect
* a dependable regular destination is available before, after, or if a scheduled link cannot be used
* campaign tracking labels and any QR-specific overrides are correct
* the design has strong contrast and enough empty space around the code
* GS1 codes use the correct GTIN and permanent domain

## Creation and Plan Limits [#creation-and-plan-limits]

You need available plan capacity before creating a QR code. To create another after reaching the limit, delete an unused QR code or upgrade first.

## Test the Live QR [#test-the-live-qr]

Test the actual QR code rather than only opening destination URLs manually.

1. Scan from a real device.
2. Repeat with each important device and country combination.
3. Check before, during, and after scheduled windows.
4. Check that any expected tracking labels appear in the final web address.
5. Allow a short processing time, then check Analytics or Events for the scans.

## Export and Distribute [#export-and-distribute]

Export the QR in a format and size appropriate for its destination. Test the final file after it has been placed into the real sign, label, packaging, or digital layout.

Keep a record of the GeoQR item used for each placement. Campaigns and tags make later updates easier to find.

## Updating After Distribution [#updating-after-distribution]

You can update where an existing Standard QR sends people without reprinting it. Saved destination changes apply to future scans immediately.

For GS1 Digital Link, you cannot change the domain after creating the QR code. You can still edit other available settings when your role and plan allow it.
